WELCOME
Welcome to the Sgoil an Iochdair agus a'Choimhearsnachd website.
We are a small local charity based in South Uist. Our main aim is to improve recreational facilities in the catchment area of Iochdar School, which extends from the middle district in South Uist up to Island Flodda, Benbecula.
OThere are some exciting new opportunities to have your say and get involved in upgrading our local playparks and the ball park at the school. There is also a new project in the planning, installing a skate park and pump track in the Loch Carnan area. The football pitch upkeep and development has reverted to Talla an Iochdair, although we still have some funds in trust for the pitch. /p>
We have already been successful in completing some of these projects, or supporting other groups so that they can undertake the work. We also have lots of ideas for the future.
Last year we installed fencing around a new tree planting area at the road end, and completed a program of installing cycle racks at key places around the catchment area of Iochdar School. The pitch at the hall has been kept mown and rolled, and it was top-dressed with sand which has improved the surface. We also developed an idea for a place-making sculpture on the plot of land at the road end, as a possible project for the future.
Please contact us if you have anything you wish to pass on; all of our projects have been proposed by local people, and their success depends on everyone's feedback and input.
